Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Q: What does Wallflow do?

Wallflow lives in your Mac’s menu bar. It brings you daily Bing photos and keeps an automatic wallpaper archive. Open the Library to browse, search, mark favorites, and choose a desktop picture. Wallflow requires macOS 14.6 or later.

Q: How do I use it?

  1. Click Wallflow’s icon in the menu bar to open the popover.
  2. Browse the recent Bing days or choose Today to return to the latest photo.
  3. Open Settings and enable Automatic Updates for a new daily wallpaper.
  4. Open the Library from the popover or menu to explore your saved photos.

Q: Is Wallflow free?

Daily Bing photos in every available market, the automatic archive, favorites, search, manual wallpaper choices, and shortcuts are free. You can show the same wallpaper on all connected displays for free.

Wallflow Pro adds automatic rotation from your library, custom collections, Unsplash and local folders, and a different wallpaper on each display. Choose Monthly, Yearly, or a one-time Lifetime purchase on the Pro screen. Prices and any available trial are shown before purchase.

Wallpaper Updates

Q: My wallpaper isn’t updating automatically. What should I check?

Open Settings and check Automatic Updates and your wallpaper source. Check your internet connection, then use Update Now from the menu. If you use Pro library rotation, check its interval under Settings → Display & Cycling.

Q: Can I choose a different region for daily images?

Yes. Change the Bing market in Settings. All available markets are included for free, and different markets may feature different photos.

Q: How do I set a specific wallpaper?

Select a saved photo in the Library and use Set as Desktop, or open its context menu. Previous and Next in Today’s Wallpaper move through the recent Bing days. With Pro library rotation selected, they move through the library source instead.

Library & Folders

Q: Where are my wallpapers stored?

Saved wallpapers are kept in Wallflow’s local Application Support folder. In the App Store version, this is inside the app’s sandbox container. Saved photos remain available offline.

Q: How do I add photos from my own folders?

With Pro, open the Library, choose Add Source, then Local Folder. Choose your folder and one of these options:

  • Link to Folder: browse the original folder in Discover. Each photo you add to your library is copied into Wallflow. Keep the original folder connected when browsing photos you have not added yet.
  • Import to Library: copy the folder’s supported images into a collection in your library. Those copies remain available after the original folder is disconnected or removed.

Wallflow reads supported image files directly inside the chosen folder; it does not scan nested folders. If an import is interrupted, images already copied remain saved. Choose the same folder and retry Import to Library to finish without creating duplicate entries.

Q: How does wallpaper rotation work?

With Pro, open Settings → Display & Cycling, choose a library source under Use images from, then choose an interval and sequential or random order. You can rotate All Wallpapers, Favorites, Daily Images, Recently Added, or a custom collection.

Multiple Displays

Q: Can I use Wallflow with multiple monitors?

Yes. Showing the same wallpaper on all displays is free. With Pro, open Settings → Display & Cycling to choose a different wallpaper on each display, either randomly or by assigning pictures yourself. Saved manual choices are retained while a display is disconnected and reused when it reconnects.

Purchases

Q: How do I restore Pro?

Open Settings → Account → Restore Purchase, or use Restore Purchase on the Pro screen. Use the Apple Account that made the purchase. If Wallflow cannot verify it while offline or after a cancelled sign-in, reconnect and try again.

Q: What happens when my subscription expires?

Your saved photos and favorites remain available. Automatic rotation and separate per-display wallpapers pause, and Today’s Wallpaper is used on all displays. Your Pro settings are kept for when Pro becomes active again. A Lifetime purchase does not expire.

Q: I bought an earlier version of Wallflow. Do I need to pay again?

People who bought the paid 1.x app receive Pro at no extra charge. Wallflow recognizes the original App Store purchase or existing v1 library data on your Mac. Use Restore Purchase in Settings → Account if needed.

Upgrading from v1

Q: Where are my old wallpapers and favorites?

Wallflow imports the old library automatically. If it cannot finish, it keeps the original library and reports the problem. Check available disk space and any missing image files, then reopen Wallflow to retry. Your legacy Pro access does not depend on the import finishing successfully.

If you need help recovering a library, contact support before deleting app data.
