Wakeful Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 22, 2026

Overview

Wakeful is designed to work without an account or analytics. Its settings are stored locally on your Mac.

Data Collection

Wakeful does not collect data for its own services. Specifically:

  • No personal information - We don’t ask for your name, email, or any identifying details
  • No usage analytics - We don’t track how you use the app
  • No crash reporting - We don’t collect crash logs or diagnostics
  • No advertising or tracking - Wakeful has no advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or analytics services
  • No account - Wakeful does not require an account or send your settings to us

Local Storage

Wakeful stores your preferences (settings and configuration) locally on your Mac using Apple’s UserDefaults system. This data stays on your Mac and is not accessible to us. Uninstalling the app alone may leave preferences behind; contact support for guidance if you need help removing them.

Accessibility Permission

Wakeful uses Accessibility permission to move the pointer for the optional mouse jiggler. When activity-aware pausing is enabled, Wakeful also reads the system’s local hardware idle time to determine whether keyboard or mouse activity happened recently. It uses this information locally to pause movement while you work. Wakeful does not read the text you type, record your screen, or send activity information to us. Keep-awake sessions work without Accessibility permission.

In-App Purchases

If you purchase Wakeful Pro, Apple handles the transaction through the App Store. We:

  • Do not process payments ourselves
  • Do not store payment information
  • Receive only the StoreKit information needed to verify access to the purchase on your device

Support Messages

If you email support or open a GitHub issue, we receive the contact details and message content you choose to send, such as your macOS version, Wakeful version, steps to reproduce a problem, or screenshots. We use that information to respond to you and troubleshoot Wakeful. We do not use support messages for analytics or advertising. Please omit sensitive information from messages.

Changes to This Policy

We will update this page when the way Wakeful handles information changes.

If you have questions about this privacy policy:

Simple version: No account, analytics, or advertising. Settings stay on your Mac. The optional jiggler uses Accessibility to move the pointer, and activity-aware pausing checks local hardware idle time without reading typed text or recording your screen.
